#GameReview – Cartoon Network Match + Tips and Cheats!

It’s time to get the vacuum out. There are tons of cobwebs and dust on my blog! 😭 I tried my best to update regularly, but life as always interferes…

Anyhoo, today’s game review is about Cartoon Network Match! Also known as CN Match Land, this game features lots of beloved Cartoon Network characters such as some from Adventure Time, Steven’s Universe, We Bare Bears, and maybe more that I don’t know of.

After the loading screens, you’ll be directed to this! Your latest shop.

What’s it about?

Using cute characters to defeat food monsters and… Having fun? Yup. Pretty much it. There’s not much of a story, but the graphics are quite creatively thought out and so’s the wordplay.

You need energy to play a round, which is replenished by 1 energy every 6 minutes or so. If you don’t want to wait, you can watch ads or buy energy using gems (I’ll get to that part soon!).

Each stage has 5 chapters that you need to clear in order to proceed to the next stage. Every other chapter unlocks a new shop.

As you can see, you’ll need 11 energy bolts to play the game. Like I said earlier, you can either watch ads to get energy or buy them using gems.

#PandaCheat: Click on the level that requires the most energy to play. In this case, maybe it’s 11. When you’re inside the level (but you can’t play because you don’t have enough energy), click to watch the ads and they’ll give you the energy amount based on the level you just selected.

The most energy I’ve ever used for a level is 15, so I just enter the level and click the ad, voilà!

You don’t need to 3-star the level to gain that kind of energy, but 3-starring levels will definitely help you progress faster in the game. And once all the levels in a stage is 3-starred, you can claim extra gems!

This is what the game play looks like. Each color of the tiles/bubbles correspond to the hero’s color. So purple would be Marcelline, yellow Grizz, and so on. The food above it are enemies that you need to defeat, and there’s a timer for your moves.

#PandaPip: Match as many colors as possible to power up your heroes. Once they are powered up, they can unleash their power, but be sure to use it wisely!

Everything is 3-starred? Awesome! Your stage is complete.
Sometimes it take FOREVER to get 3 stars, so watch your moves.

#PandaPip: When playing, if you can, keep a mental count of how many moves you’ve made. I don’t always but I can roughly estimate how many I’ve done.

Coins can be used to make purchases in the daily market, but I find it not worthy to spend it on tokens of characters I already have. For instance, I don’t have Flame Princess yet so I would purchase her figurine, but she’s quite expensive too… Hmmm…

#PandaPip: Every time you make a purchase from the market, only do it once. The price doubles for the second consecutive buy. Luckily, the market refreshes every few hours so you can check in every now and then.

I need a hero… Or maybe some new ones.

Speaking of heroes, here are some of mine! As you can very obviously see, their levels are maxed out 60/60. There are 3-4 leveling up ranges: 20, 40, 60, and 80 for more powerful heroes.

Lapis is EXTREMELY maxed out here, but you need eatmos to upgrade her!

To upgrade your hero, you need eatmos. Eatmos can be created by opening up your shop, and the color of each shop corresponds to the color of the hero.

The eatmos I’m lacking can be found from Ricey Bowls, so I’ll need to grind until I get enough eatmos from there. Provided I want to upgrade Lapis.

#PandaPip: Here’s what I do. Wake up in the morning, grind by looting the levels, then leave it aside. Come back a few hours later to grind and collect eatmos, then continue the routine again. This is if you really want to upgrade your heroes and need more eatmos, otherwise just play as normal! P/S: You can only loot from levels you have 3-starred.

Future heroes to be unlocked. Anyone wanna sponsor me some figurines?

When the shops have accumulated their earnings (that’s where you get coins from), you’ll see a notification on the left side of your screen. Just tap it, collect, and continue on.

Unlock 40 chests and get another 100 gems!

You will also get keys to unlock chests, and once you have a certain number of gems you can buy a super crazy chest too. However, I don’t always get figurines and rather tokens of characters I already have, which is kinda useless.

Side Quest

If you play the game long enough, you’ll notice a little seahorse icon on the right with a notification. It’s kind of like a side quest where you can earn gems, coins, and energy too.

Under the seaaaAaaAAAaAAAa

The side quest has a time limit however, and a total of 10 stages to complete. Each one costs seahorses that you can earn while playing, but the game play is totally the same just with different enemies.

You get to fight fish now! Who’s the fighting fish now, huh?

You’ll notice a little ‘2x 3x’ symbol at the heroes, that means the hero will inflict 2x or 3x the damage.

Feeling Cartoony Yet?

CN Match Land is fun, fast, and fairly easy to understand. My only gripe with it would be that sometimes MY HEROES ARE TOO DAMN WEAK that I can’t defeat the level and get my 3 stars. Would love an option to buy the 3 stars lol.

Pros

  1. Doesn’t need Internet connection (HOORAY) unless you want to watch ads for energy.
  2. Cute graphics and heroes, wordplay is good too. Tart Mart? Go Go Cocoa? So cute.
  3. Easy to understand, fast to finish. In a good way.

Cons

  1. Difficult to get figurines for higher levels (Jake, Princess Bubblegum, etc.)
  2. Repeated tokens for heroes that are Completely leveled up and maxed out.
  3. For the sea side quest (Omg that pun), the enemies do not play fair and will just keep attacking after each move 😦 So sad.
