Holland Park @ London

After careful consideration (not really, just sheer laziness), I’ve decided to separate my posts about my London trip by location. So today’s is about Holland Park! *Long overdue, given my trip to London was about 10 months ago…*

There are actually a few different entrances to Holland Park, so please research which one’s the nearest for you. We relied on Google Maps and got off at the correct Tube, but suddenly we had to climb this really steep and dodgy-looking hill to enter the park.

Why dodgy? Because it was like a backway alley with homes on one side and iron-fenced green shrubbery on the other. And there was no one else on the path except cyclists or joggers going downwards, so we felt like fools being the only ones headed up wtf.

Finally we made it into Holland Park, and look who greeted us!

Western squirrels are so much more different than our Asian ones.

Holland Park is a huge area with a lot of different spaces that sadly, we didn’t get to explore all. We were there on Easter Day and there were families with kids having an Easter egg hunt, hiding the eggs in the flowers or in the plants. TOO CUTE.

Also, it was spring so all the flowers were in bloom! Lots of tulips, marigolds, bluebells, daisies, roses, etc. Wow, I only know the names of these flowers thanks to Enid Blyton.

Holland Park is also home to aviaries, and check out this fella that escaped from its cage! (I assume?) It was perched high up on a wall and after that, we saw it again showing off its feathers to some little children 😂

Next was this designated slot called The Fukushima Garden. It was super serene, zen, claming, insert-all-the-super-chill-adjectives. To be honest, the whole park felt like that and compared to the hecticness of travelling and daily life, it felt good to be away from disturbance.

We would’ve loved to stay and explore the park from east to west, and north to south, but our itinerary didn’t permit us to. After Holland Park, we went to Biscuiteers for tea and just strolled around near our hotel before heading back.
